Google’s Chat Session Presentation and Q&A
Google webmaster central just posted a recap of their live sesssion chat session.
Unfortunate there is no audio.
Last but not least, we are bummed to admit that someone (whose name starts with ‘A’ and ends with ‘M’) uncharacteristically forgot to hit the record button (really!), so there’s unfortunately no audio recording to share :-(.
If I hadn’t had to go to the dentist that day and miss the first part of the session, I would have recorded the audio and the video myself. This would have been great for my blog because 1) I would have published screen captures of the presentations, recordings of the audio, and also the transcript before Google did, and 2) because they would likely link to my post from their blog post if I commented saying that I had the audio myself.
I am so sorry to have let you all down.
But at least you can see the presentations bellow and also the questions and answers here. Next time, I will try harder.

I have read through this whole transcript, and I was actually really impressed by some of the answers they gave. They were pretty blunt on some of the do’s and don’t of SEO, way more than I thought that they would. I was especially surprised by their answer about duplicate content on the web, that it will not really effect PR.
Anyways, Happy Halloween!

Yea, the answers are great. Unfortunitely they don’t seem to have answered any of my questions yet
Thanks for your comment!

What were some things you asked?

I asked something about sites like wikipedia, etc. using nofollow for all links out, and whether they would be penalized for it as if every site did this, it would completely wreck the way the Google ranks websites by counting the number of links.
I asked if they were going to use face recognition and optical character recognition in their image search in the near future.
I also asked a few other questions but I can’t remember them so they are probably not important.

I missed this occassion,I realy want to know google’s stand in DMOZ ditrectory now, some say google have withdrawn their guarntee indexing from them because of curruption of dmoz publishers.Do you know google’s stand now?will they come out with their own directory??

From what I heard, Google are keeping DMOZ because people in places like China find it difficult to type so they often set DMOZ as their home page or something like that.
What do you mean by “Will they come out with their own directory?”? DMOZ is their own directory.

Joel my little SEO friend I need to REALLY teach you one word “outsourcing”. For the $10-$15 in your local area off of Craigslist or other classified sites or overseas for $4-$5 you could’ve had someone record or be online for the Google chat. I’ve hired freelancers the last three years in 15 different countries not including the U.S (including this week added the 15th in Norway, hot blondes and great logo designers who knew). : D
